Bob Colwell’s colum in the September 2005 issue of IEEE Computer talks about Presentation Lessons from Comedians. He talks about Tufte, Powerpoint and Weissman’s “Presenting to Win”. He quotes Weissman’s five cardinal sins in a presentation:

• no clear point
• no audience benefit
• no clear flow
• too detailed
• too long.

He also says “talk only to eyes”, “graphics go on the left side of the slide”, “no more than four bullets and four words per bullet” and … “practise”.
